Jacqueline Horvat

Incumbent Bencher & Treasurer, LSO

First elected as Bencher in 2011 and as the Treasurer of the Law Society last June, Jacqueline Horvat is the Co-Founder of Spark Law, which has offices in Windsor and Toronto. She has a broad and varied corporate/commercial litigation practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial disputes, shareholder and oppression disputes, partnership disputes, economic torts, estates disputes, directors’ and officers’ liability claims, enforcement of foreign judgments, professional liability matters, class action litigation, and appeals. She has extensive trial experience and has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal.

 

She is an occasional instructor and frequent guest lecturer at the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law, where she also participates in the Reclaim Pro Bono Project, which provides free legal advice and representation to people who have suffered online or technology-enabled violence. Jacqueline is the past Ontario representative to and the current Vice-President of the Council of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. She is a past member of the Independent Advisory Board for Supreme Court of Canada Judicial Appointments, and a past director of Library Co. Inc. (now LiRN), which manages the county law library system, and of the Ontario Judicial Education Network.

 

Jacqueline received her LL.B. from the University of Windsor.
