Laura Emmett

Laura Emmett is a Partner at Strigberger Brown Armstrong LLP in Waterloo, a boutique insurance defence firm. Her practice focuses on accident benefits; bodily injury; and cyber liability and privacy. As well as being certified in risk management, Laura’s legal skills has been recognized by Lexpert and Best Lawyers in Canada in personal injury; a Rising Star (2016) and Leading Lawyer to Watch (2017) by Lexpert, and a top 20 Under 40 by Business London Magazine. A sought-after speaker and widely-published thought leader, among her works is a top-selling book on statutory accidents benefits.

She is a past President of Canadian Defence Lawyers, after serving many years on its Board; and is currently a Board member of the Defense Research Institute to which she previously served as Canadian counsel representative. Laura has also been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Western University since 2018, and serves on the Council of the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto, which improves dialogue between lawyers and doctors. In the community, she is a former member of the Board of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwestern Ontario and the Better Business Bureau of Western Ontario.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Administrative and Commercial Studies from Western University, and was awarded an LL.B. by the University of Windsor.
